ST. ROBERT - Fast food fans in St. Robert will soon have one more option to choose from.
At Monday night’s board of aldermen meeting, local businessman Michael Blankenship said development has started that will bring a Hardee’s to town.
He said American Realty was working to open a Hardee’s by the end of the year. “We have a long term lease worked out with them. We hope to have their building up in six months,” he said.
Motorists can already see work underway on the side of the Colton’s building on Marshall Drive.
Blankenship, who operates the local Colton's, said a new shopping center is also planned behind the Colton’s building.
“Hopefully we can get the word out that we are growing, and six months from now we will all be able to get a Monster Burger,” Blankenship told the board.
In other business, the board approved an ordinance to spend up to $4,000 for golf carts that will be used at the city golf course. Renting the carts will bring in additional income for the golf course, he said.
